The Pacto toilet first saw the light of day in 1969.
The company founded by Alfred Nobel (of Nobel Prize fame) had developed a new technique for encapsulating waste matter. One of their employees, Ove Danielsson, saw the possibility of a new application for the technique in a new type of dry toilet. After buying the rights to the invention, he launched Pacto, the "packaging comode", as it was known in its early days.
Pacto quickly became a popular solution to the problem of sanitation in more primitive conditions.
Thousands of Pacto toilets all across the world have been sold over the years, to be used in disaster areas, in military operations and even during the Hajj, the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca.
And following on from the success of the Pacto toilet, Ove Danielsson has founded Danfo, a company specialising in sanitation solutions.
Danfo offers public conveniences for any need and environment, from fully automatic urban toilets to simple solutions for sites without access to water and sewerage. For more information about Danfo, please visit our company web site.
